Compromised account

On rare occasion, your YCP email account may be compromised (meaning that someone else is using it without your permission). If this happens to you, immediately change your password. Then, check the Gmail settings (explained below) to undo any changes that the hacker may have made.

If you haven't already, please fill out your SMS/Alternate Email in (This will allow you to unlock your account, without needing our help, if you're ever compromised.)

Consider using LastPass, to make & store secure passwords.

Check Gmail settings

You can only access all Gmail settings from a computer.

  • Log into your YCP Gmail.

  • In the upper right, select the Settings icon (gear) > See all settings.

  • Review the following for insidious alterations:

    • General

      • Signature

      • Vacation responder

    • Accounts

      • Send Mail As

    • Filters and Blocked Addresses

      • Remove any unfamiliar filters.

        • These send incoming messages to other labels.

    • Forwarding and POP/IMAP (not applicable for employees)

      • Remove any unfamiliar forwards in the Forwarding section.

        • This option is not available for employees.

    • Third-Party Apps

      • Remove any unfamiliar third-party apps that have been given access.

        • Select the app, then select Remove Access.

    • Manage Devices

      • Select the three dots at the top and select Sign out
