Copyright Infringement

York College complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA). As an internet service provider for all users of the York College network, York College is responsible for responding to any copyright infringement notices that occur during the use of its network. All users of the network have accepted York College's Acceptable Use Policy at the registration of their devices to the network. When the device is located, its network access will be shut off and a notice sent to the registered user of the device. A three tiered penalty program is enforced with regard to copyright infringements at York College, with penalties increasing with each level.
