Email Alias or Delegated

Generic or alias email addresses are preferable for college departments or organizations to use rather than an individual’s email address. The email address remains the same for print and online purposes or if a different employee assumes responsibility for a department or organization function.

The email alias is created after approval of the Department Manager or YCP Organization Advisor. Permissions are granted to access or receive these emails in two ways:

1. Traditional YCP Email Alias: Emails to the email alias are redirected to network account(s) with permissions to receive emails to the alias. Email replies are sent from the network account, not from the alias.


2. Email Delegation: Email delegation is linked to the network account(s) with permissions to send/receive emails to the alias. A separate inbox is accessed and email replies are sent from the alias account, which is linked to the network accounts. The separate inbox can be reached by clicking on the York College Logo at the top right of the page when logged into your traditional YCP email.
