My inbox is missing messages
By default, Gmail sorts your emails into different inbox tabs, like Social or Promotions. So, you may not see all that you expect in your Inbox. If this is confusing or creates an issue for you, there are a few options.
Check all mail
This will show you all incoming messages, unsorted.
In the menu, on the left, under Mail, select All mail.
Note: You may need to select Main menu ☰ first.
Search in mail
Use the search bar, at the top of your Gmail account, to search key terms from any message you're trying to find.
Change your inbox
On a computer
Select Settings (gear icon) > Inbox.
Choose one of the options below.
Remove categories
Next to Categories, uncheck Promotions & Social, so that only Primary is checked.
Select Save Changes.
This will direct all message to your Inbox and move all previous messages to your Inbox.
Change inbox type
Next to Inbox type, select one of the other options.
Select Save Changes.
Tip: We suggest you try multiple types to find which puts your messages where you expect.
Error: "York College of PA Mail virus scanners are temporally unavailable"
This means that Google cannot scan for viruses at that moment, so opening the email's attachments may be dangerous.
Check the G Suite Status Dashboard for a reported issue.
Only open the attachments if you're certain they're safe.
Consider waiting to open any attachments until the virus scanners are working again.
Contact us if you're unsure or have any questions.
Google Calendar
Found at: calendar.google.com
Quickly schedule meetings/events and get reminders about upcoming activities. Share your schedule with others & create multiple calendars that you and your team can use together.
Outlook, Apple Calendar, or other 3rd party calendar sync issue
If your third party calendar app is no longer syncing properly with your YCP account's Google Calendar, you may need to delete the connection, then start fresh and reconnect it.
Note: If you use a "secret address", then reset it to create a new one.
Google Drive
Found at: drive.google.com
Store and share any file; keep photos, stories, designs, drawings, recordings, videos, and all file types. Your storage is free and accessible from any smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Learn how to add citations and a bibliography to Google Docs.
Google shared drives
In shared drives, teams can easily store, search, and access their files anywhere, from any device. We offer Google shared drives for all YCP employees, full of useful documents.
Note: Unlike files in My Drive, files in a shared drive belong to the team instead of an individual. Even if members leave, the files stay exactly where they are so your team can continue to share information and get work done." ¹
Drive for desktop (formerly Drive File Stream)
Stream your Drive files directly from the cloud to your Mac or PC, freeing up disk space and network bandwidth. Because Drive files are stored in the cloud, any changes you or your collaborators make are automatically updated everywhere. You’ll always have the latest version.
Google Sites
Found at: sites.google.com
This site (LTShelp.ycp.edu) is built on Google Sites. Like most Google apps, it's free for everyone. So, you too can create, edit, and publish websites for student portfolios, class presentations, clubs, or anything else you think up.
Note: To create a Google Site that officially represents YCP to prospective students or the general public (or to request a ycp.edu subdomain), you'll need Office of Communications' approval. Then, we can work with you to ensure it meets branding guidelines.
