Moodle has two main course communication tools for faculty: Moodle Announcements and Moodle Quickmail (Faculty).
Faculty can send messages to the entire class through announcements. Moodle Announcements will email the students (a copy will go to their YCP Gmail) and include a copy of the announcement on your course site.
Moodle quickmail can be used to email individuals or the entire class. A copy of all messages sent to the students' YCP Gmail account.
Moodle Quizzes is a feature that allows instructors to author multiple-choice and open-ended questions fairly easily. It also allows support for both matching and fill in the blank question types. The options available within Quizzes allow control over when a quiz is available and what is released (Faculty | Students).
