FAQ and FAQ Container Type

The FAQ content type was designed to present a list of frequently asked questions with expandable/collapsible answers, but it can also be used to gather lengthy content into a list of topics, so that it is easier for a visitor to read.

To display and publish a list of expandable / collapsible topics, we need to create a FAQ container. We recommend you place it as the first content item above the FAQ items in your section, so that it makes sense when you look at the list of all content items in the section.

To build a FAQ list:

  • In the section, select the Add Content button and select YCP2016: FAQ Container from the list of content types.
  • Enter a Name for the content. It is helpful to name the FAQ Container using the word "container" to distinguish it from its items below it.
  • The Secondary Title field is presented above the Primary Title because if you use both of these elements, this is the order in which they appear on the page. The Secondary Title is not required but can be useful to add clarity or to emphasize the Primary Title. You can enter the title however you like on the form (all lowercase for example), but the system will automatically change it to all caps. It will display in a lighter shade than the Primary Title over the text content.
  • Enter the Primary Title . This is required. You can enter the title however you like on the form (all lowercase for example), but the system will automatically change it to all caps. It will display in a darker shade than the Secondary Title over the text content.
  • The Container Background offers a selection of patterns which surround the FAQ list to help offset it the from other content on the page, but is not required.
  • Select Add & Approve to save the container.
  • Next, add the FAQ items.
    • Select the Add Content button and select YCP2016: FAQ from the list of content types.
    • To help keep FAQ items easy to recognize, we recommend you enter the Name and the Question as the same text. This way, the FAQ list looks the same when you look at the section or the page.
    • For the usage described above, enter the topic in the Name and Question fields. Keep the topic brief but descriptive. It is recommended that these names be the same.
    • Enter the topic's content in the Answer HTML editor.
    • When adding either email address, telephone number, or offsite website link in the HTML editor, please follow these steps:
